Prayer and Sacraments

Prayer and Sacraments

Chaplaincy is here to support you on your journey of faith, providing opportunities for prayer and liturgies which will deepen your relationship with Christ.

As well as daily Mass and Confessions, we hold a range of other services which, as far as possible, coincide with great feasts and liturgical seasons, drawing us into the richness of the Church’s year.

We also support student prayer initiatives when they arise.  At present Fiat, Knights of St Columbanus and Youth2000 each facilitate regular prayer moments which are open to the Chaplaincy community.

Mass

Liturgy at Chaplaincy is an experience of true community.  Our Masses are opportunities to come together as one and recognise the God that is with us and within us.  Liturgies are enhanced by the talents and gifts of many including the students who welcome us, lead us in song, and join us in prayer.

Confessions

Confessions are available after every Mass or on request.  This ministry is greatly appreciated by members of the Chaplaincy community and its popularity reflects the importance students and staff place on reconciliation in their lives.

Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration is available in the Prayer Room.

Vocations

Chaplaincy offers moments for discernment, hospitality, conversation, and spirituality which help students and staff consider where God might be leading them in their lives. We are here to accompany you as you discern your vocation, whether you just want to learn more or whether you feel ready to commit to study for priesthood or religious life. We also provide advice and guidance to couples preparing for marriage.

Becoming Catholic

If you are interested in becoming Catholic or are a Catholic seeking Confirmation, Chaplaincy can help. We can recommend suitable programmes which introduce you to the teachings and sacraments of the Catholic Church, culminating in full Church membership. We can also provide you with moral support as you journey toward these important faith-milestones.
